Hi! My name is Olivia Connelly, and I'm from Lexington, Kentucky. I am a junior at High Point University in North Carolina, and I am studying strategic communication with minors in social media marketing, graphic design, and marketing. I have always had a passion for creative and explorational outlets where I can learn and grow. Since the age of three, I have been dancing. I spent countless hours at dance classes, rehearsals, and performances. Dance was my life. While I will always admire the art and athleticism dance takes, I decided to pursue different interests in college. I joined many clubs and met some amazing people. Each semester, I develop my dreams and aspirations, and I have discovered many things about myself and the world that I would’ve never known about. I acquired so many valuable lessons that I will carry with me throughout my academic, professional, and personal life.
Compassion, creativity, and collaboration influence a great deal of my life. I have so many supportive relationships that have mentored and cared about me, and I’m eternally grateful. I want to reflect that kind-heartedness in my career field and be a role model for others. Additionally, I grew up surrounded by the arts. My school was a creative and performing art school, so I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to have experiences in dance, theater, art, music, and creative writing. In addition, my friends and I love photography; therefore, I want to cultivate my creativity in my career and life. Lastly, collaboration is key to me because I love to gain insight from others and work together to make a difference. Welcoming diverse perspectives and experiencing a sense of community encourages me to strive to be better and be a team player.
Faith remains another fundamental aspect of my life. Many of my organizations (Campus Outreach, [gather], and Alpha Delta Theta Sorority) are rooted in faith. They remind me that vulnerability is not weakness, rather a way to connect with the Lord and His people. Moreover, they helped strengthen my confidence in myself and my abilities to lead with grace and love for all. I still have much to understand, but I do know that God can perform wondrous things and His goodness has blessed me.
I, like many college students, find myself constantly busy with classes, homework, clubs, and numerous meetings. I remind myself to take some downtime and rest. I enjoy music, hanging with friends, and spending time outdoors! I love exploring the world and hope to travel to Greece or Italy in the future. I hope this blog can be an insight into my life, my passions, and maybe even some of my fears!
