About Me: Insight into Olivia's Life

Learn a little about my passions and me!

Hi! My name is Olivia Connelly, and I'm from Lexington, Kentucky. I am a junior at High Point University in North Carolina, and I am studying strategic communication with minors in social media marketing, graphic design, and marketing. I have always had a passion for creative and explorational outlets where I can learn and grow. Since the age of three, I have been dancing. I spent countless hours at dance classes, rehearsals, and performances. Dance was my life. While I will always admire the art and athleticism dance takes, I decided to pursue different interests in college. I joined many clubs and met some amazing people. Each semester, I develop my dreams and aspirations, and I have discovered many things about myself and the world that I would’ve never known about. I acquired so many valuable lessons that I will carry with me throughout my academic, professional, and personal life.

Compassion, creativity, and collaboration influence a great deal of my life. I have so many supportive relationships that have mentored and cared about me, and I’m eternally grateful. I want to reflect that kind-heartedness in my career field and be a role model for others. Additionally, I grew up surrounded by the arts. My school was a creative and performing art school, so I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to have experiences in dance, theater, art, music, and creative writing. In addition, my friends and I love photography; therefore, I want to cultivate my creativity in my career and life. Lastly, collaboration is key to me because I love to gain insight from others and work together to make a difference. Welcoming diverse perspectives and experiencing a sense of community encourages me to strive to be better and be a team player.

Faith remains another fundamental aspect of my life. Many of my organizations (Campus Outreach, [gather], and Alpha Delta Theta Sorority) are rooted in faith. They remind me that vulnerability is not weakness, rather a way to connect with the Lord and His people. Moreover, they helped strengthen my confidence in myself and my abilities to lead with grace and love for all. I still have much to understand, but I do know that God can perform wondrous things and His goodness has blessed me.

I, like many college students, find myself constantly busy with classes, homework, clubs, and numerous meetings. I remind myself to take some downtime and rest. I enjoy music, hanging with friends, and spending time outdoors! I love exploring the world and hope to travel to Greece or Italy in the future. I hope this blog can be an insight into my life, my passions, and maybe even some of my fears!

Just The Beans Coffee: Coffee and Community

Just The Beans Coffee is a new, local cafe located in High Point, North Carolina. It opened its door amidst the peak of the pandemic. However, with the pandemic restrictions decreasing, the Just The Beans Coffee family is eager to welcome more coffee lovers into its space. Just The Beans Coffee was founded by Nate Stanley and his partner, Emily Stanley. Their purpose for this shop is to feature great-tasting coffee and a welcoming community. Currently, they house the freshest coffee in town and roast each order as it is placed to ensure excellent quality in every sip. They have strong relationships with the growers and even donate part of the proceeds monthly to coffee-growing communities.      Additionally, they believe the community's needs should be at the forefront in everything they do. As a result, they offer plenty of seating indoors and outdoors perfect for work meetings, study sessions, or just chilling with friends! In addition, they offer space fo...
